Pinckney (seen here with his father, Jody) began his love for the farm working as a teenager of his grandfather's vegetable farm. From his Grandfather, he learned how to grow, package, and deliver premium produce to the consumer and grocery stores in the greater Charleston area.
About The Farm

Pinckney’s Produce is a part of Thompson Family Farms which is run by father and son team, Jody and Pinckney Thompson.

Julius P. Thompson, Jr. (Jody) grew up on Yonges Island, S.C. He worked on the family produce farm which, at that time, produced vegetables for the local Charleston market and the grocery stores of a young growing Charlotte. Jody attended Clemson University from 1965-1969 - receiving a BS degree in pre-Veterinary Sciences. He attended University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine from 1969-1972. After receiving his D.V.M., he began and operated Thompson Animal Hospital in Orangeburg, SC until 2002. He and his wife, Norah, have two sons Julius P. Thompson, III and Joseph Whallen Thompson. In 1993, while operating his small animal practice with his associate Dr. Lawrence Wienges, he began Thompson Farms. With the help and guidance of his father, Julius P. Thompson, Sr. and his son Pinckney, the farm has developed to its presence today.

J. Pinckney Thompson, III graduated in 1997 from Clemson, receiving a B.S. in Agronomy. While attending Clemson, he worked at the peach research farm and, during the summer, the family farm. After graduation, he became an active partner and began the management of all daily farming operations. Pinckney married Amanda Jane Weathers of St. George in 2001 and have two sons Julius IV, and Manning.
