history First cultivated in Italy in the 1700s, cantaloupe was not grown commercially in the US until the late 19th century.
nutrition Very high in Vitamin A (beta carotene) and Vitamin C which boosts immune function. A great source of potassium and Vitamin B6.
storage Store cantaloupe at room temperature to allow ripening. Move to the fridge at peak ripeness. Once cut, store melon in the fridge wrapped in plastic to protect the flavor and moisture.
